Free entry all week for everyone under 27

During the nationwide K7 Week, you can visit Den Gamle By for free if you are aged between 18 and 27.

Thursday: Band in the back courtyard, 70s porn and a sustainability workshop
The day will also feature a plant workshop on sustainability and talks with residents from the collective experiment. Come and experience it all from 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

The Commune Experiment
During K7 Week, an experiment is also taking place in the town’s commune, where four young people from the present day have moved in and are living as young people did in the 1970s – without mobile phones, eating food from that era and wearing clothes from the 1970s.

Upcycling like the 1970s – learn how to mend

Today, we often throw things out instead of fixing them. Bring your worn clothes to the 1970s Jelling flat and learn simple tricks for patching up holes.

1974 flats

Explore homes from the 1970s – including the flat of a Greenlandic student, a nuclear family, Turkish guest workers and a hippie couple.

Workshop – from fabric scraps to rag rugs

Rag rugs were all the rage in the 70s – and a great way to reuse old textiles. Learn how in the Collective. Just show up as you are.

Open jam at Jazz Bar Bent J

Between the De4Maver concerts, it’s open jam time at Bent J. Triangle, trumpet or guitar? Bring your instrument and join the session.

Bring your own jar and learn how to pickle

In the Jelling flat in the 1970s neighbourhood, you can learn to make jam from windfall apples and pickle green tomatoes – just like back in the day. Remember to bring a jar from home.

In the streets of the 1970s neighbourhood, the roar of vintage mopeds fills the air – and all around, you’ll spot retro cars parked just like back in the day.

Explore the book centre, the flower shop, Poul's Radio and Rahbek’s Mini-market. You’ll also find the plumbing workshop and the bicycle & moped workshop in the courtyards.

Learn the basics in a cosy circle in the 1970s Collective. Bring your own project or borrow some knitting gear when you arrive.

Moped exhibition: Freedom on Two Wheels

Explore the special exhibition of vintage mopeds in Bendtsen’s Warehouse and have a chat with the experts from the Moped Guild.

Hot dogs, Cocio and deep-fried camembert

Taste the flavours of the 70s. Try deep-fried camembert at Restaurant Gæstgivergården, grab a classic hot dog from the sausage stand, or enjoy coffee and a Napoleon cake at the patisserie.
