Toys as far as the eye can see
Children’s play and toys have played an important role in children’s upbringing and preparing them for adulthood. From the late 18th century, toys were designed to educate boys to become active citizens, while girls’ toys introduced them to a future as mothers and housewives.
Boost in toy production
From the mid-19th century, there was a marked increase in the production of tin toys and mechanical toys in Germany, and they soon found their way to Denmark. The Toy Museum exhibits German Märklin cars and Bing trains, mechanical toys from Lehmann and Danish Tekno toys.
The museum is housed in the warehouse from Næstved in the 1927 neighbourhood.
